SUNRISE, Fla. – The Toronto Maple Leafs selected New Jersey Rockets alumnus Jeremy Bracco (Freeport, N.Y./Boston College) with the final selection of the second round (61st overall) in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

Bracco spent one season with the Rockets, winning the Atlantic Junior Hockey League’s Rookie of the Year award, after scoring 50 points (16G 34A) in just 30 regular season games. Bracco added a pair of goals and four assists in four AJHL playoff games.

Bracco was among the last group of players to receive a waiver from USA Hockey to play junior hockey as a 15-year old and began the season with the Rockets team in the Metropolitan Junior Hockey League.

After registering 24 points (9G 15A) in just 10 games, Bracco was promoted and became the youngest player in the AJHL and was recognized for his on-ice play by being named to the circuit’s All-Star event.

Combined with exhibition play, Bracco had 47 goals and 80 assists in 84 games, including 12 powerplay goals and six game-winners, in his one season with the program.

Bracco then moved on to the United States National Team Development Program, along with teammateCharlie McAvoy (Long Beach, N.Y./Boston), marking the third consecutive season that the Rockets sent players to Ann Arbor.

In Ann Arbor, Bracco continued his offensive prowess, breaking the program’s career assist record. He finished his time in Ann Arbor ranking third in career points (168) and first in career assists  (122).

“This has been an amazing experience for our family,” said Jeremy’s mother, Vicky. “We can’t be more excited about [Jeremy] going to one of the most storied franchises in the NHL!”

This marks the third consecutive season that a member of the Rockets has been selected in the NHL Draft. The Tampa Bay Lighting selected Adam Erne (North Brandford, Conn.) in the second round in 2013 and the San Jose Sharks selected Kevin Labanc (Staten Island, N.Y.) in the sixth round in 2014.
