NEWARK, N.J. – The New Jersey Rockets are pleased to announce that forward Kyle MacLean (Basking Ridge, N.J.) and defenseman Anthony DeMeo (Port Washington, N.Y.) have both committed to the OHL for the 2015-16 season.

MacLean was a fourth round selection (78th overall) by the Oshawa Generals and DeMeo was a third round selection (61st overall) by the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection.

MacLean saw action in 81 games this past season, split between the independent 19U team and the 16U team that competed in the prestigious Tier 1 Elite Hockey League. He finished tied for second in the entire program with 53 points (27G 26A), including five power-play goals and three game-winners. MacLean’s 27 goals led the program and he also added two shootout-winning goals.

“Just extremely excited about the move,” MacLean said. “Definitely going to be a big jump but I’m pumped to get up there and start the season.”

By signing with Oshawa, MacLean was forced to decommit from Northeastern University, where he had committed during the regular season.

DeMeo, from Port Washington, New York, was the latest high-end prospect from Long Island to dress for the program. Limited by an early-season injury suffered, DeMeo rebounded to score 10 goals in 65 games, adding 23 assists.

DeMeo will be the second alumnus to play for the Greyhounds. Rudy Sulmonte left Mercyhurst University and signed as a free agent.

MacLean and DeMeo were both invited to the United States National Team Development Program’s top-40 Evaluation Camp but were not named to the program’s roster.

The pair was also selected for the East Coast Elite League’s All-Star Game at the 18U level.
