For Immediate Release

NEWARK, N.J. – The New Jersey Rockets are pleased to announce the forward Anthony Del Gaizo (Basking Ridge, N.J.) has been promoted to the Muskegon Lumberjacks (USHL).

Del Gaizo, the leading scorer in the Eastern Hockey League, will immediately report to Muskegon and is expected to be in the lineup when the Lumberjacks takes on the Youngstown Phantoms in Youngstown’s Hockey for Health Get Schooled Game at 10:15 tomorrow morning.

“A great opportunity for a well-deserving player,” said head coach Sean Cromarty. “Anthony has been a Rocket from Mites through this year with the EHL program, and embodies the progressive development model.”

As a rookie, Del Gaizo sits atop the EHL leaderboard with 39 points in 22 games. His 19 goals also leads the league and his 20 assists are good for fifth. The dynamic forward was in prime position to give the Rockets their fourth consecutive EHL Rookie of the Year before received news of his promotion.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by the highest junior league in the United States,” Del Gaizo said. “I am thankful for the development I received from the Rockets and, from coach Cromarty. I look forward to entering the next stage of my hockey career.”

“Muskegon is getting a player who plays a complete 200 foot game and has a high compete level,” Cromarty added. “He’s an outstanding leader both on and off the ice. Wearing an ‘A’ for us, and leading the EHL in scoring, as a ’98 birth year player speaks volumes.”

The Lumberjacks also own the USHL rights to Marc Del Gaizo, after choosing the defenseman with the 122nd overall pick in the 2015 USHL Phase I Draft.

The Rockets return to action on Saturday, December 5 when the team travels to Simsbury, Connecticut for an EHL matchup with the Connecticut Nighthawks.
