The New Jersey Rockets are thrilled to announce the addition of a pair of NCAA goaltenders have been added to the organization's coaching staff.

Former Princeton goaltender Zane Kalemba will serve as the head goaltending coach for the organization, while former University of Massachusetts-Lowell net minder Brian Robbins will serve as his assistant.

“We could not have found a better guy," Rob Broderick, President of the Rockets, said "Zane grew up in the area and played within the Atlantic District program and has been on USA Hockey's staff for 7 years. He was a big part of the ECAC championship team at Princeton and an All-American before attending NHL camp with the Buffalo Sabres and playing several years overseas in Europe. More importantly, he is an excellent coach and mentor and will be a big part of the Rocket family”

“The game of hockey is constantly evolving and the standard of players is improving at a very high rate," Kalemba said. "As a result, goaltenders have to make adjustments to keep up with the pace of the game of the modern era. In addition to having a great foundation of the fundamentals of the position, I believe each goalie should have an understanding of the latest techniques. Each goalie has his or her own strengths and should play to those strengths; and should have the freedom to use any and all tools available to stop the puck.”

To further bolster their goaltending program, Robbins, a former Rocket, was hired to serve as Kalemba's assistant. Robbins was also a USHL and OHL draft pick.

"Brian is an outstanding young man and an outstanding coach," Broderick commented.

“We want to raise the bar with the training and opportunities we give our goaltenders," Broderick continued. "Under the tutelage of these two outstanding coaches our players will get just that.”

“I am looking forward to being able to bring my knowledge, experience and passion for the game back to an organization that allowed me to develop and have opportunities at the collegiate and professional levels," Robbins said. "Making the transition from player to coach, I’m excited to help players work hard to pursue their dreams and create their own opportunities, both on and off the ice.“
