ROCKETS, FLYNN GOES PRO
Signs contract with SPHL’s Mississippi RiverKings

Bridgewater, NJ – The New Jersey Rockets are proud to announce the signing of forward Donny Flynn to a professional contract with the Southern Professional Hockey League’s Mississippi RiverKings.

Flynn, of Randolph, New Jersey, spent two seasons with the Rockets finishing the 2016-2017 campaign with 18 goals and 58 assists through 47 games. Flynn led the team in points, assists, and penalty minutes.

“Donny has been an integral part of this program since I came on,” said Head Coach Sean Cromarty. “Much of our team success, and that of individual players, can be linked to his playmaking abilities. I’m proud of him and wish him nothing but the best in the next chapter of his hockey career.”

Coach Cromarty attributes Flynn’s success to the work put in off the ice. “Taking his game to the next level has required a tremendous amount of training off the ice, mentally maturing, and becoming a leader.”

Flynn will join the Mississippi RiverKings of the Southern Professional Hockey League for the 2017-2018 season. The RiverKings, who play out of Southaven, MS, finished the 16-17 campaign fifth in league standings thus qualifying them for playoffs.

Flynn is looking forward to the opportunity to continue his career in the professional ranks. “I’m very excited and eager to learn more about professional hockey on and off the ice, and learn new ways of playing the game,” said Flynn.

“The Rockets organization provides players with so many privileges to help improve players. I’m lucky the Rockets took a chance on me and believed in me as much as they did. Without them I wouldn’t be where I am today.” Flynn attributes his success to those who helped him along the way, from Rockets owner David Gibson to coaches Magnus Elgstam, Rob Broderick, and Sean Cromarty and everyone in-between.

Flynn joins the growing list of Rockets players to go pro, including John Carlson, Bobby Ryan, and Charlie McAvoy.
