The Rockets Developmental Program (RDP) places a high priority on young players who are being introduced to the game of ice hockey after they have developed appropriate skating skills. We are committed to making sure they have everything they need to succeed and have fun. We believe that we help to develop the person, not just the player. Our development program has structured and a specific curriculum designed to prepare our young players for their next stage of their development as well as keep them interested and engaged throughout. We also emphasize sportsmanship and what it means to be part of a team.
The RDP is a key component of the Rockets. This popular program is run and led by Rocket head coaches and staff. RDP is based on age-appropriate competition and training for boys and girls, beginning with their first exposure to the game and carrying them through Squirt hockey and beyond. The RDP places a heightened emphasis on skill development and long-term athlete development principles, providing a great start for the best possible youth hockey experience. The RDP follows USA Hockey's American Development Model.
Our young Rockets will have FUN and are in constant motion in small spaces. The RDP utilizes station based instruction, small area games and cross-ice competition to deliver more repetitions, more puck touches and more skill development per hour of ice time. RDP provides the most efficient, most engaging development path for children, keeping them both in the game and on a path toward their full potential.
The RDP staff will see that your child improves their skating, puck handling and shooting skills along with learning the basic fundamentals of the game of hockey. And most importantly have FUN!
